Lunch clubs will educate kids on food during the holidays

- Andrew Bargh

North Lanarkshire Council is inviting families to take part in an initiative featuring fun, food and fitness.

The local authority has set up lunch clubs at three locations throughout Monklands which will take place during the school holidays.

The scheme is aimed at helping parents who may struggle to pay for holiday activities and provide nutritious meals for their children in the summer months.

Ai rdrie Academy, Kirkshaws Neighbourhood House and Glenboig Community Centre will all host the free event at different times.

Kids will get the chance to take part in supervised fun and activities with their friends as well as trying out new foods.

And parents can come along and take up the opportunity to cook tasty meals on a budget as well as helping their child learn more about healthy eating.

Airdrie Academy will host on Mondays to Wednesdays from July 4 and Thursdays and Fridays from July 1 from 10am to 12.30pm.

Glenboig Community Centre will anchor the event on Mondays and Tuesdays from July 25 or Wednesdays – Fridays from July 27 from 10am to 12:30pm.

And it is Kirkshaws Neighbourhood House’s turn on Mondays – Wednesdays from July 4 or Thursdays and Fridays from June 30, also from 10am - 12.30pm.
