Wrestling superstars are Gunn-ing for a real fight

- Andrea O’Neill

British Championship Wrestling returns to Lanarkshire next month with new Heavyweight Champion BT Gunn.

Against all the odds BT Gunn managed to end Kid Fite’s three-year championship reign at BCW’s last brawl in Kilmarnock – the longest any wrestler has held a championship title in Scottish wrestling history.

Defended against some of the biggest names in world wrestling, including Fergal Devitt, Davey Richards, Drew Galloway and Mr Anderson, Kid Fite was finally knocked off the top spot, with Gunn becoming the first ever Scottish wrestler to become both BCW Heavyweight Champion and Grandslam Champion.

All your favourite wrestling stars return to East Kilbride’s Ballerup Hall on Friday, July 1, including comedy grappler Grado.

The bold Ayrshire funnyman will take a break from filming for TV and rehearsing for his Pavilion panto debut to make his return to East Kilbride.

Grado says the Ballerup Hall is up there with his favourite venues to wrestle, adding: “Yeah it’s amazing to wrestle in massive arenas but you can’t beat that up close and personal feel and the East Kilbride fans never fail to put a smile on my face.”

Doors for BCW Live in East Kilbride open at 6.30pm with the first bell at 7pm. Tickets cost £10 or £30 for a family of four.

Grado, who wrestles for American outfit TNA, is also scheduled to appear alongside wrestling superstars at a massive event happening later this year for BCW’s friends at Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW).

Their huge event at Glasgow’s Hydro will be a night to remember.
