Hollywood stars sign up in support of sensory room
It’s more “signed tap” than Spinal Tap, as stars Christopher Guest and his wife Jamie Lee Curtis became the latest A-List actors to sign a commemorative Airdrie jersey.
The golden couple are the most recent on the carousel of Hollywood stars to pen their autographs on the Diamonds top which will now be auctioned off to raise funds for the club’s Sensory Room at the Excelsior Stadium.
They follow the lead of fellow household names, Mark Hamill, Ricky Gervais, Tom Hanks and William Shatner, who have all helped Airdrieonians to so far raise thousands thanks to their signature efforts.
The strip features the face of the late, lifelong Airdrie fan Mark Allison, whose image will adorn the club’s home shirt for the remainder of the season,to mark his life and fundraising achievements.
Well-connected local radio host Ross Owen is the man who has obtained the valuable memorabilia after striking a sponsorship deal with the club.
And Airdrieonians commercial manager Dougy Allsop is delighted with the latest additions.
He said:“That’s another two A-listers signed up.
“Every time Ross sends a photo through it takes your breath away. It’s amazing.
“I’m very happy indeed as I had a massive crush on Jamie-Lee !
“That aside, it’s great for the club as the bidding is already at £600.
“We’ve raised about £5500 so far with the tops and JustGiving page, so we’re well on our way to the package we want for the sensory room.”
