Sean’s parents support family of missing woman

-

The family of tragic Sean McKenna have given their support to the relatives of a missing West Dunbartonshire woman at a fundraising event.

Sean was missing for three weeks last October before his body was found in Woodend Loch and his parents, James and Lorraine, recently joined the family of Lisa Brown, an Alexandria mum-ofone who disappeared in Spain three years ago, on a climb of Ben Lomond.

The group were also joined by Jennifer Harley, daughter of missing Coatbridge man Paul Harley, who hasn’t been seen in two years.

Lisa’s family believe she was murdered but James and Lorraine, who were very grateful for the support they received during the search for Sean and in the aftermath of his death, wanted to get involved as fundraising efforts to help locate her continue.

James told the Advertiser: “We’ll always try and help people who are going through the same experience we had.

“It’s still hard for us to talk about it but if it can comfort others then we’re happy to do it and to get involved in fundraisers.

“Truthfully we wish we could help every single person but we can’t. Some people find it really hard to talk about but it’s healthy to do it.”

The climb raised a total of £7500 and James added: “Lisa’s family need the money.

“They know she’s dead but just need the closure we received and to do that they need to be able to afford to keep up the search.

“Getting emotional support is really helpful as they will be hurting like hell and you think about it every minute of the day when you have a missing loved one.”

James continued: “The climb was great fun although the weather was absolutely horrible.

“It was freezing cold and the rain was like getting hit by stones.

“Despite that, everybody was in good spirits throughout and having a laugh on the way up and down.

“It was just a shame we didn’t get a very good view when we reached the top.”
