Diamond dieters scoop top slimming awards
Long-term success
A gem of a trio have been crowned Diamond Members of the Year in three separate Slimming World classes, setting a sparkling example of longterm weight loss.
David McFadden, Liz Cunningham and Lynne McPate, all from Airdrie, joined consultant Sharon McGinness’ groups and lost a cumulative seven stones between them.
But, more impressively, they have all managed to keep the pounds off since reaching their dream weight.
The Diamond Member title is awarded to each group’s most inspirational member who has lost weight and maintained their new shape.
Since reaching their target weights in 2014, 2015 and last year respectively, David, Liz and Lynne have continued to attend the weight-loss groups and believe without the constant support, they would have struggled to maintain their fabulous new figures.
Liz said: “I’ve made so many friends that I can’t imagine not going to the group each week, they’re like a family to me now. Everyone inspired and supported me to achieve my target and now it’s my turn to do the same for other people, to show the same kindness, warmth and compassion that I was shown.
“It’s not completely selfless, though, as coming to group keeps me on track too and we always have a lot of fun.”
Lynne added: “I still eat the same way today and I’ve passed lots of healthy habits on to my family and friends too.”
Sharon, who runs groups in St Edward’s and Cairnlea church halls which the terrific trio attend, said: “I’m so proud of all of them and the inspirational way in which they have maintained their weight loss.
“It’s always great for new members to meet Diamond Members and see what’s possible at Slimming World – after we’ve explained why someone so slim is in the group in the first place, that is!
“I hope David, Liz and Lynne inspire other people in Airdrie and Coatbridge and prove to them that you really can get slim for good.”
