School gathers to pay tribute to pupils’ success

Triumphant Ai rdr i e Academy pupils had an extra- special reason to enjoy their summer holidays with an added spring in their step.

That’s because the secondary school honoured their ability to go above and beyond even their classroom work at a series of special “celebratin­g success” assemblies.

The showcase marked the selfless youngsters’ wider achievemen­ts over the course of the previous school session.

Between these assemblies and the farewell gathering for S5and S6 students, a staggering 860 awards were presented to accomplish­ed pupils.

The celebratin­g success events took into account the contributi­on youngsters had made with charity and voluntary work, engaging with the local community and helping to create a fun and informativ­e environmen­t at after-school and lunchtime clubs.

A delighted spokespers­on for Airdrie Academy told the Advertiser: “The celebratin­g success assemblies provided us with the opportunit­y to recognise the wider achievemen­ts of our pupils over the past year.

“Pupils were engaged in a vast array of activities, ranging from school clubs and house events to charity and voluntary work.

“The whole school is very proud of our pupils’ wonderful achievemen­ts and enjoyed giving them a well-deserved moment in the spotlight during the celebratio­n assemblies.”

The school spokespers­on added: “It was also an emotional time as we bid farewell to our senior students at our leaving assembly.

“We wish all of the pupils well for the future, whether that be in further education or the workplace, and are sure they will be hugely successful.”
