Share stories of care by hospice

St Andrew’s Hospice is asking supporters to share their stories of the Airdrie charity during hospice care week, which begins on Monday.

The nationwide awarenessr­aising event will celebrate the contributi­on of all those involved in providing and supporting hospice care, including medics, volunteers, chefs, chaplains, corporate partners and carers.

Hospice staff will be highlighti­ng stories on social media, using the hashtag #WeAreHospi­ceCare; and is asking Monklands residents to get involved by sharing their experience­s at www. st- andrews- hospice. com/ patients-and-families/yourstorie­s.

Those holding their own special events for hospice care week can also download items including bunting and cupcake flags at www.st-andrews-hospice. com/ event/ hospice- careweek-2017

St Andrew’s chief executive Bruce High said: “We have been providing hospice care for over 30 years and this gives us an opportunit­y to show the wide range of services provided by both staff and volunteers, and made available to our patients and their loved ones thanks to the support of the Lanarkshir­e community.”

Tracey Bleakley, chief executive of organisers Hospice UK, added: “Hospice care involves many people with different skills and talents coming together to deliver incredible care – united by their passionate commitment to the special ethos of hospice care.

“I t ’s the perfect opportunit­y to celebrate the rich and varied contributi­on to hospices across the UK and we hope the public will join in the celebratio­ns and help share more widely the many personal stories that make up hospice care.”
