So Kool Carter arrives in style Winner treats friends to Bonkers Bus

- Jean Ward

Christmas came early for an Airdrie youngster who had a cool ride to school after winning a popular radio station’s breakfast contest.

Carter Kennedy, the winner of Clyde 1’s Kool Ride to School, enjoyed travelling on the Bonkers Bus after being chosen by the show’s presenter George Bowie.

Carter, five, who attends Chapelside Primary School, treated 15 of his friends to a fun trip on the gold edition bus after securing his place with the joke: “What do you call a boomerang that doesn’t come back to you? - a stick!”.

And the young Airdrie joker and his pals enjoyed a party atmosphere on their journey from his home and around the town, before arriving in style at their school last Thursday.

His mum Kelly-Anne McKeown said: “Carter was thrilled.

“There were three kids names put into a hat and Carter’s name was picked out; it was a great experience for him and a real confidence booster as he’s only in Primary One.”

The fun was also enjoyed by Carter’s dad John and his 18- month- old brother Jak, who accompanied the youngster and his P1 pals on their journey.

And at the end of their memorable trip the kool kid and his gang were met at the school gates by their head teacher Wendy Davie, principal teacher Margaret Clelland and class teacher Emma Gibson.
