St Patrick’s dig deep for hospice

-

The congregation of St Patrick’s Church in Coatbridge have raised over £9000 for the St Andrew’s Hospice Capital Appeal.

The Hospice’s Capital Appeal team visited the Church during their Sunday service in August to tell the congregation about the hospice refurbishment and how the community could get involved to help the team reach their £9million target.

Since this visit, members of the congregation have held numerous events to raise funds.

The Church held a table top sale and donated their table fees and raffle proceeds from the day.

Ann Marie Couse also donated the profits from her table, taking the total monies raised to £550.

Brenda O’Hare, Josepha McDonald and Clarkston & Drumpark Primary School recently hosted a Sing A Long Mamma Mia event in St Patrick’s Church Hall which raised £2275.

The event was held in memory of Elizabeth Sefton who was loved and treasured by the community.

For this event, Rena Gallagher from Gallagher Food kindly donated a light supper and tea and coffees free of charge.

Two members of the congregation, Tracey and Cath took on the challenge of walking 10K a day around Dumpellier Park for 10 days.

They successfully completed this challenge and raised £1660.

Grace Peacock, Capital Appeal Fundraiser said: “The Church has raised over £9000 from collections at Church services as well as the challenges and events the congregation have taken part in.

“We appreciate their support greatly, and it’s fantastic to see the community spirit from supporting their local Hospice.”
