Shift arts project

will bring its Lockers exhibition to Summerlee museum on Saturday, from 7pm to 9pm. The free event is an “outdoor sound and light installati­on featuring 60 workplace lockers”, with each playing a different recording of stories shared earlier in the project by local residents. It will also include photos, music, uniforms and work-related items. The project is being produced by the National Theatre of Scotland, Culture NL and North Lanarkshir­e Council. Residents aged 14 and over are also being invited to submit work-inspired photos to the project, to form an online gallery and to be displayed in exhibition­s in February. Organisers are looking for any images representi­ng “a personal visual viewpoint of what work means”, adding: “The subject matter could reflect the past or predict the future of work.”

Charity night

run by Angel of Love and Light spirituali­st church will take place next Monday, December 18. The event takes place at Coatbridge community centre; doors open at 7.10pm for a 7.30pm start and the event ends around 9.15pm. Entry costs £5 and all proceeds will go to Lanarkshir­e Associatio­n for Mental Health. Tickets can be bought any Monday at the church at 7pm; for details, call 07539 946335.

CAP job club

meets on Mondays from 12 noon until 2pm, at Hope Church on Bank Street. Anyone looking for work is invited to attend for friendly, practical support. Lunch is provided; places can be booked by calling 0800 328 0006.

4th Coatbridge Girls’ Brigade

meet at 6.45pm every Tuesday in Middle Church hall, on Bank Street; new girls of school age are welcome to join.

Pied Piper playgroup
