Feel the power

Open invitation to Advertiser readers

A Coatbridge gym has unveiled an exciting new look with state-of-the-art facilities – and is looking to share it with Advertiser readers, writes Ian Bunting.

DW Sports Fitness is ready to hit dizzy new heights and achieve golden standards as its fresh features include a spin studio and Olympic platforms.

Staff at the Coatbank Street facility – which opened its doors in February 2005 – have issued an open invitation to Advertiser readers to give the new equipment a test run.

General manager Katie Anderson explained: “Anyone who reads this article in the Advertiser is welcome to take advantage of a free day pass at the gym.

“This will allow them to give us a call and arrange to come down and try out all of our new equipment and top-of-the-range facilities.

“People who become members can also bring a friend or family member along every Friday to use the gym.

“It’s a very exciting time for the gym and we’d like to share it with as many Monklands residents as possible.”

DW Sports Fitness is home to around 3000 members; and Katie hopes the impressive new additions can attract further fitness fans.

She said: “This is the first major refurbishment of the gym since it opened 13 years ago.

“It has been totally redone; we have a new functional area, two Olympic platforms and a new spin studio.

“Members can also use new tyres, sleds, sandbags and walking bikes; and the shower areas have been done up too.

“The spin classes, which involves exercise bikes, are hugely popular and having the new spin studio gives people much more space to enjoy what they’re doing.

“Members have been raving about the Olympic platforms and the feedback in general on the gym’s new look has been hugely positive.

“We are running half-hour classes to show people how all of the new features work and our staff are really happy with the equipment.”

Katie has worked for the DW Sports Fitness chain for the past 11 years and moved to the Coatbridge gym from its Glasgow Fort facility last November.

The Bellshill native said: “I am loving my time at the Coatbridge gym and the team here are a joy to work with.

“We have about 20 staff members, as well as instructors, and they are all hugely passionate about helping people to maintain, and boost, their fitness.

“It really gives you a massive buzz to do something that benefits others and see them doing things to assist their health and physical wellbeing.

“We invite new members to come along and join in the fitness fun.”
