The Girls’Brigade 4th Coatbridge Company were put under the spotlight at their annual inspection and display night – and shone brighter than any star in the sky.

A jam-packed Middle Parish Church hall was awash with pride, poise and perfect performanc­es as the organisati­on put on a superlativ­e show for invited guests.

This year’s extravagan­za had extra-special significan­ce as it marked the company’s 70th anniversar­y inspection.

And, like each of its previous six decades, the girls and their team of staff were a credit to the organisati­on.

Explorers, brigaders and juniors lined up to win the seal of approval from inspecting officer Jennifer Major, before being presented with their well-earned awards recognisin­g their achievemen­ts over the past 12 months.

Rebecca Morgan, Rhona MacIntosh and Ciara Docherty scooped the Brigade’s highest individual honour, the Queen’s Award.

Loyal company member Irene Peat was also recognised for her 30 years of exemplary service, with everyone giving her a heartfelt round of applause.

Proving their wide range of skills, the girls put on some first-class entertainm­ent for the captivated audience, which included music, dance and fun-filled games.
