Victim in hospital after street fight

A man was left in a critical condition after trouble at a house in Coatbridge spread into the street.

The 28-year-old victim was involved in a disturbanc­e at a property in the town’s Arnott Drive at 11.30am last Thursday.

The disturbanc­e spilled out onto the street, resulting in the man sustaining his injury.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the victim was taken to University Hospital Monklands, where his condition was described as “critical”.

As the Advertiser went to press, police enquiries were still ongoing, with o fficers carrying out door-to-door enquiries and checking for any CCTV footage.

Detective Inspector Cameron Miller said: “We know there was an altercatio­n in the flat which carried on into the street.

“Enquiries have shown that there were a number of people at their windows who may have witnessed the incident.

“I am appealing for them to contact police with any informatio­n on what they may have seen.

“A young man is in a critical condition and it’s imperative we trace whoever is responsibl­e for the attack.

“If anyone has any informatio­n or knowledge regarding this crime, please do pass it on to us.”
