Brush up your skills
Visitors to Monklands Hospital can be trained in lifesaving CPR skills on Friday.
Experts will be running sessions in the entrance area of the Airdrie hospital from 9am to 5pm, ahead of Tuesday’s global “restart a heart” day.
The event s a re taking place at all three Lanarkshire acute hospitals as well as at schools and sports centres as staff from NHS Lanarkshire, the Scottish Ambulance Service and Scottish Fire and Rescue aim to teach 1000 people CPR techniques.
Clinical skills specialist Monica Love said: “Restart a heart is a designated annual day of action to teach vital life- saving skills to as many people as possible; we’re joining forces to train as many members of the public and schoolchildren as we can.”
Seventy people in Scotland every week have a cardiac arrest ; and Monica added: “Bystander CPR can double and even treble survival rates.
“By increasing the number of potential lifesavers we hope this will lead to better outcomes for victims. Please come along to learn CPR – it means that one day you will be able to save someone’s life.”
