Who’s that lady? It’s the Doctor

The new Doctor Who crash- landed her Tardis on to television screens last Sunday.

This series marks the arrival of Jodie Whittaker – the 13th Time Lord and first ever female Doctor – and her companions Bradley Walsh, Mandip Gill and Toisin Cole.

For the first time ever the popular family sci-fi show will be beamed out to audiences on Sunday nights.

It’s a whole new era for the Doctor, then, and show-runner Chris Chibnall said: “Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor is about to burst into Sunday nights – and make the end of the weekend so much more exciting.

“Get everybody’s homework done, sort out your Monday clothes, then grab some special Sunday night popcorn, and settle down with all of the family for Sunday night adventures across space and time.”

To mark the new Doctor’s arrival, the Advertiser grabbed our Sonic Screwdriver and took the time out to ask Coatbridge shoppers for their thoughts on Whittaker playing the role – and for their favourite ever Time Lords.

Mum Susie Vivers is a fan of Whittaker, saying: “I saw her on Graham Norton recently and she was really funny.”
