Cairn are now on a roll

-

Gartcairn continued their phenomenal start to the season with a 2-0 win over league rivals Ardrossan Winton Rovers.

Cairn are now 10 games unbeaten thanks to late goals from David Hepburn and Kevin Ross.

The Airdrie side sit six points clear of Shotts and Ardrossan at the top of the table.

After the game, gaffer Jamie McKenzie said:“Ardrossan are a really good side.

“I don’t think many teams will come here and win this season.

“I said to the boys at half-time that the first goal would be hugely important and it turned out that way.

“It settled us and we started passing the ball a lot better.

“It was through that passing that we won the penalty which sealed the game for us.”

McKenzie praised the hosts for their performance too but was pleased with how his side adapted to the threat.

He added:“Ardrossan really took the game to us.

“They approached it with a lot of energy and enthusiasm and caused us a lot of problems.

“It was a different game than we’re used to but we got through it.

“Today was a different kind of performance and we had to dig in and wait for our chances.

“We took them and the most important thing is that we’ve secured another three points.”
