Fan blog: Airdrieonians In the lead but doomed to concede

Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser - - Reader Travel -

Airdrie remain under severe pressure following this loss.

Three consecutive defeats, despite scoring first, saw Airdrie fall to just two points above the bottom team.

Beginning with the same team as last week, the scramble to clear in an unchanged defence in the opening minute was a harbinger of what was to come later.

A promising start ended with Victoria scoring after 15 minutes.

The recent failings quickly resumed three minutes later as a rapid unchallenged move gave Jackson time to shoot home.

It got no better in the scond half as, despite some changes, careless defending allowed Brechin to take the lead.

We are supposed to“enjoy the game”as Stephen Findlay promised in the matchday programme, but these dire performances, week after week, are a frustration to many.

We’re told every team can beat any other team in this league.

Unfortunately, that has been us recently.

Our next three games are against sides below us in the league, but if this slide continues, we’ll soon be looking up at all of them.

Leaky Airdrie can’t hold a lead
