Reports delay on assault woman
Sentence has been further deferred on a Coatbridge woman who turned violent after being caught shoplifting and ended up with her attacking two police officers.
Kellyanne McMullen stole alcohol from the Key Store on her home town’s Main Street on May 15.
She became aggressive when her not- so- quickfingered actions were discovered – and pushed a woman on the body.
McMullen, 37, went on to shout and swear, punch and kick the door of the shop and utter violent threats to the woman and another woman and man who came to help.
Police officers arrived and were unsuccessful in their efforts to calm McMullen down.
When taken outside, McMullen kicked a male officer on the body and tried to bite a female cop.
The Jackson Court resident was eventually placed under arrest and taken to Coatbridge police office.
McMullen pleaded guilty to all of the offences and was due to be sentenced at Airdrie Sheriff Court last week.
But the court heard that background reports on McMullen were “unavailable” and defence lawyer Fraser McKinnon requested more time for the completion of the reports.
Sheriff Frank Pieri granted this request and continued proceedings until November 7 “for the reports previously called for”.
