Violent thug is sent back to prison

- Court reporter

An Airdrie thug has been sent back to prison to serve the remainder of his sentence after breaching his release order.

Alan McKenzie was jailed after a violent attack on his partner and two female police officers last April.

The 32-year-old placed the woman in a state of fear and alarm and seized her by the head during his outburst.

When police arrived at the scene, he became even more violent and unleashed a torrent of aggression towards two cops.

Attacking one of them, he seized her throat, forced himself on her while he pinned her on a couch, compressed her neck with his forearm and punched her on the head repeatedly.

McKenzie then assaulted a second officer and pushed her into a door frame causing her head to collide with it, again causing injury.

He continually resisted arrest and lashed out at officers when they tried to place him in cuffs.

McKenzie was released earlier this year but, after breaking his release order, was returned to prison for a further eight months.
