Opportunities in childcare sector

New College Lanarkshire’s Coatbridge campus is to host a free event showcasing“emerging opportunities in the early learning and childcare sector”.

“Discover Early Years at NCL”will take place next Friday, November 9, at the 101 Park Street venue.

Around 200 people are expected to attend, including school-leavers, teachers, careers advisers, parents, carers, existing early years practitioners and childminders.

The event was organised to coincide with the Scottish Government’s planned expansion to free childcare provision that is expected to create up to 11,000 new jobs in the sector.

By 2020, all three and four year-olds, and eligible two-year-olds, will be entitled to 1140 hours of funded childcare per year. It will feature talks and workshops based on exciting and innovative developments in pre-school learning and play activities.
