Eves debut single going down a storm at BBC

- Andrew Bargh

Musical duo The Eves are hoping their first single will be the catalyst for success after BBC radio stations picked up on their debut release.

Marissa Keltie, orignally from Coatbridge, and Caroline Gilmour have released Tides, the initial release from an upcoming album which the pair revealed is almost fully recorded and will be out next year. A tour is in the offing as well to promote the album and Marissa, who also works full-time in a session band, believes it’s an “exciting time” for the talented duo. She said: “Tides is growing in momentum at the moment. “Some BBC stations have picked up on the track and we’re getting a lot of play on internet podcasts as well as local stations like Rocksport, Camglen and Amazing Radio.

“We’re chuffed as it’s only been a week since it was released so it’s a very exciting time.

“We’re just back from Copenhagen where we performed acousitc sets at house concerts for our following there.

“We’re currently working on finishing the recording of the album and putting a band together.

“We’ll be organising a Scottish tour to showcase the album next year, followed by dates further afield in the UK.”

Commenting on their debut single, Marissa continued: “Tides is one of the first songs we wrote together and it captured a moment in time when we had just met and the songwriting energy was flowing.

“It’s a song about connection which is so impotant when writing music.

“We both knew of each on the music scene in Edinburgh but had never met, then I approached Caroline about writing original music.

“We clicked musically and the songs flowed.”

Reflecting on falling in love with music while growing up in Coatbridge, Marissa added: “The teachers at St Patrick’s High were a big part of why I’m performing.

“Their influence and enthusiasm at that time in my life was key to developing my musical skills and helped set me on the path of what I do today.

“I’m so lucky to be able to write and perform music as my full-time job.

“We’ve put so much work into our debut single and it feels great to receive such a warm reception.”
