Club are in limbo
Rovers’performance against Queen’s Park was a better one but there was a depressing familiar final result at the Reigart Stadium.
A combination of poor finishing and dire defending put paid to any hopes of bouncing back from last week’s cup disappointment as the Spiders racked up three goals and three points.
In fairness, the club are in limbo right now and I suspect that fans aren’t expecting much to change until the appointment of a new manager.
Uncharacteristically, there have been few hints regarding those who have thrown their hat into the ring.
Many are suggesting this could be the most important decision in Rovers’long history and with the threat of relegation hanging over the club, it’s hard to disagree.
The board are in the unenviable position of needing to make an appointment quickly to avoid falling further behind the pack and also ensuring they pick someone who can realistically change the course of our season.
Hopefully they will strike the right balance and we can move forward with the new team in place.
Should the new boss be in place for next week, he will find himself facing a tough debut as Rovers head to Balmoor Park to face Peterhead.
It’s one of the longest journeys in the football calendar to face a team who are challenging for the top spot, so it would be a baptism of fire for any manager.
Regardless, if Rovers head back down the road with anything other than a defeat it would be a fabulous effort.
