Take a leaf out of Tracy’s book

- Ian Bunting

An Airdrie woman inspired to launch a slimming group in the town after her own successful weight loss is urging others to follow in her footsteps.

Tracy Brown runs Slimming World classes at Airdrie Salvation Army hall and manages a team of consultants who head up other groups across the town.

She shed four stones in just over a year after joining Slimming World in 2014 and used everything she learned to open her own group a year later.

Tracy, below, is now playing her part in a campaign to help recruit new consultants to the weight loss organisation.

She said:“Since I was a youngster my weight brought me down and made me miss out on huge parts of life.

“I lacked confidence, self-esteem and motivation and often felt very bad about how I looked.

“I was a size 28 and after I unsuccessfully tried dieting on my own, a leaflet dropped through my door advertising a local Slimming World class and I decided to give it a try as I had nothing to lose.

“My first night there was a very scary and sobering evening but also very enlightening. I was made to feel very welcome by the consultant, and members, and listened enthusiastically as the diet plan was explained.

“The weight came off easily and after I lost three stones I decided I didn’t need to go to the class, and could follow the plan at home.

“You get so much support and motivation within these type of weight loss groups and I decided to start my own group as I wanted to pass on the knowledge I had gained and help as many people as possible to lose weight and feel good about themselves.

“I would highly recommend that others take the opportunity to start a career with Slimming World as it is a hugely rewarding experience.”

Slimming World is looking for people like Tracy who have lost weight themselves with the organisation and can share their own dieting success stories to build a career.

Tracy added:“We provide support 52 weeks of the year and our members know from the minute they first walk through the door, often when their self-esteem is at its lowest, that they will never be judged.

“Their details are completely confidential and they are with people who understand them – because they’ve been Slimming World members themselves.”
