Waysiders/Drumpellier’s Wolves took part in a five-team tournament at Carrick.

The girls’team opened with closely-contested matches against Islay and East Kilbride, losing out 5-4 and 5-3 respectively.

The Coatbridge side found winning form when they met the hosts and ran in five tries to Carrick’s two.

That was followed by another victory by the same scoreline against Falkirk, which included debut tries from Ella McIdoe and Amy McIntyre while Lucy Truesdale made a scoring return to action after injury.

Coach Stevie McDonald said:“The girls are learning every game and the standard is very high and entertaining to watch.”

Waysiders’first team return to West Region Division 3 action this Saturday, when they host Moffat. The Coatbridge side have won all seven of their games this season, while the visitors are still seeking their first victory.
