Kasia punches the air after award
Medal for talented boxing and gym trainer
A fighting-fit Airdrie student has celebrated success at the UK’s largest skills competition.
Kasia Matejko, 32, who graduated from City of Glasgow College alongside running her own boxing gym and personal training business in Coatbridge, brought home a bronze medal in the personal training category at this year’s WorldSkills UK LIVE.
The graduate, originally from Poland, was part of a 30-strong team who competed in the elite skills competition helping her former college to retain its number one ranking.
Commenting on her success, Kasia said: “Winning the medal was an absolute delight and I’m very happy to be bringing home the bronze medal.
“I am very competitive and WorldSkills UK was a great and challenging experience to have. I enjoyed the whole process, including planning, prepping and, especially, performing.
“All of the finalists brought something different to the competition which was itself a challenge and an opportunity to learn some new skills.
“There was a great bunch of people supporting me throughout the competition who are just as happy as I am to have placed in the top three.”
Kasia took part in an intensive training programme, putting in many hours of hard work in preparation for the prestigious competition.
