Raith Rovers .2 Air­drieo­ni­ans 0 A lack of cut­ting edge cost Air­drie in Fife as they were de­feated 2-0 by Raith Rovers.

The vis­i­tors started brightly and Dale Car­rick took the game’s first shot on goal, but it was saved by for­mer Di­a­monds loa­nee Rob­bie Thom­son.

Dar­ryl Duffy sent an ef­fort just wide mo­ments later be­fore Raith seized cont rol of pro­ceed­ings.

Nathan Flana­gan’s smart throw- in freed Kevin Nis­bet down the left and the league’s top scorer nut­megged Jonathan Page be­fore some­how squeez­ing the ball past David Hut­ton at the near post.

Leighton McIn­tosh claimed for a penalty shortly af­ter when he was tripped in the box but no de­ci­sion was forth­com­ing.

Air­drie con­tin­ued to pres­sure Raith and looked to be through on goal when Kyle Wilkie found Dale Car­rick on the half­way line.

But Raith’s Iain David­son ac­cepted a yel­low card for scyth­ing down the for­ward as he bore down on goal.

Af­ter weath­er­ing Air­drie’s storm, Raith net­ted their sec­ond.

For­mer Air­drie striker Liam Buchanan re­acted quicker than a stand­still Di­a­monds de­fence to knock the ball past Hut­ton on the half-hour mark.

Ian Mur­ray in­tro­duced Con­roy at half-time as Air­drie searched for a way back into the game.

Duffy went close with a curl­ing ef­fort from 25 yards be­fore hav­ing a goal dis­al­lowed shortly af­ter.

McIn­tosh should have scored on the hour mark when the ball fell to him five yards from goal, but Thom­son man­aged to block his ef­fort.

The keeper foiled Joao Vic­to­ria in the game’s dy­ing em­bers as Air­drie’s win­ning run came to an end.
