Help facility feed the hungry

-

Coatbridge community foodbank has a series of collection points for people to donate items over the coming weeks.

The facility’s volunteer co-ordinator, Angela Easton, has urged people to hand in items to allow the hard-working team to “continue to serve the community”.

She said:“We had outstanding support from the community throughout 2018 and hope they can step up again and help keep our shelves full.

“Anyone looking to donate items can either hand them into our Coatbank Street base or the trolley collection points we have up and running in the Coatbridge Asda and Tesco stores.

“There is also a trolley in the Bank of Scotland branch on Main Street and a few local churches, including St Columba’s, also accept items.”

One of the foodbank’s dedicated volunteers added:“We can’t help everyone all of the time, but aid people who are in a crisis situation, with the help of kindhearted locals.

“The staff members here all work on a voluntary basis, and we all do everything we can to help the hungry and needy.

“Not a lot of people know this, but we also accept pet food as a lot of people are in need of this as well.”

Coatbridge community foodbank is open from 10am until 2.30pm every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
