Girl power was alive and well at Airdrie Academy as the Spice Girls warmed up for their reunion tour this summer by putting in an appearance at the school.

It may not have actually been Sporty, Scary, Posh, Baby and Ginger themselves, but the school’s own version of the iconic pop group went down a storm at its annual Christmas concert.

Tributes to established stars mixed superbly with expertly choreographed dance routines as pupils and staff blew off some steam to mark the end of 2018.

Students also took part in a Strictly Come Dancing-themed contest and a trip to Braehead on the final day of term.

Responding to the school’s Christmas concert, an Airdrie Academy spokesperson said:“Our thanks go to everyone who contributed to the success of the event.

“Our pupils would have put many established musical acts to shame with their absolutely brilliant performances.”
