Trust call for fan meeting with board
The Airdrieonians Supporters’ Trust have called for an open meeting between the fans and directors at the club.
The group of Diamonds diehards urged the club hierarchy for“clarification”after a string of departures in the boardroom.
Last month saw chairman Bobby Watson step down to spend more time with his family. He was then followed by Stuart Shields, who had acted as a spokesperson during the takeover. Gavin and Walter Speirs also left roles at the club last year.
In a statement released by the Trust, members stated that the series of high-profile exits had caused some fans“unease”.
It read:“Following a number of departures from the Airdrieonians FC boardroom and a certain amount of unease amongst some fans we feel it necessary to address this situation, and we will seek clarification from the board.
“Given the make up of the clubs boardroom after the consortium takeover, there was always the chance of changes being made to the set up over time. The Trust like other fans also shares a concern at the number of recent departures, we will however continue to do everything in our capabilities to work with those running the club to ensure things are being done for the best for our club and its fans. We are requesting an open meeting with the board and the fans.”
