Elderly Monklands residents belied their years for an exciting knees-up to warm their hearts as winter approached.

The energetic senior citizens were preparing to enjoy the Airdrie Old Age Pensioners’ Group’ s concert in the Sir John Wilson town hall in October of 1982.

And they were joined by a very special guest as Coatbridge MP Tom Clarke turned out to enjoy a spin or two on the dancefloor.

The concert was one of several local events held during Old People’s Week in Monklands and all of the party-goers defied their advancing years to have a night to remember.

They were also treated to a delicious slap-up meal and got to mingle with several friendly faces.

The town hall air was filled with classic tunes as the magical music had everyone singing and dancing along.
