Mum often mistaken for daughter’s sister

A Coatbridge mum who was “sick and tired of being sick and tired” is now often mistaken for her daughter’s sister after an incredible lifestyle turnaround.

Sharon Devlin, 50, who worked as an NHS nurse, altered her approach to life as she reached her landmark birthday.

And such has been the success of Sharon’s dramatic change, she now has a career as an ambassador for Isagenix, the supplement company she credits for her new look.

Living mostly in Australia and returning home a few times a year, Sharon has built a large community with thousands of clients and runs her business through Skype.

She told the Advertiser: “I was always exhausted, bloated and becoming a couch potato.

“I didn’t like the way my life was heading and wondered, ‘is this all I can offer the world’?

“I took advice from a colleague and tried a cleansing cycle and after 10 days or so it was like a lightbulb in my head came on.

“I had so much more energy and was loving life, spending time out and about climbing hills, taking part in activities and doing things I’d never have done before.

“I appreciate every day now and my body feels the way I want it to feel.”

Although Sharon has lost weight and transformed the way she looks, she doesn’t work out rigorously.

She continued: “I do yoga and walk at least 10,000 steps every day.

“I used to go to the gym but it didn’t give me results I hoped for.

“I have muscles on my stomach showing now and people think I do lots of situps but it’s all nutrition and keeping healthy!

“I’m able to build and keep lean muscle without working out at a gym.”

Sharon has helped more than 2000 people alter their lifestyle for the better through her ambassador role and enjoys being a source of support for clients.

The mum-of-two moved out to Australia with her kids in 2008 and worked as a clinical nurse in Queensland before taking the leap of faith.

She is still based out there and revealed her change in lifestyle means people often think she is around half of her actual age.

She laughed: “My daughter Nadine is 21 and was out shopping the other week at a place we often go.

“A staff member asked her, ‘where’s your sister today?’

“We were at the hospital recently too and the doctor said, ‘are you okay with your friend being in the room’?

“I had to let him know I’m her mum! It’s quite funny and she gets embarrassed and fed up with it.”
