Model child is picture perfect

Striking a pose – for a worthy cause

- IAN BUNTING

A Coatbridge kid is already a king of the catwalk as he models for a clothing company raising funds for mental health support.

Five-year-old Stone Lunar Robb is over the moon to do his bit for B-Heard clothing’s pledge to donate a cut of its profits to Glasgow Association for Mental Health (GAMH).

The link-up is young Stone’s first foray into the modelling world – and he has taken to it like a duck to water.

Stone’s mum Sheree explained how her son got involved in the fashion industry: “I am a hairdresser and I learned about B- Heard clothing through a client.

“Joseph McCabe, who runs the firm, asked if Stone would like to model some of his kids’ clothing and we were thrilled to accept the offer.

“People have always told us Stone is very photogenic but this is his first time modelling.

“He absolutely loves it and if he doesn’t make it as a footballer, he wants to be a model in the future.

“Stone is a natural model and his dad David and I are very proud of him.”

Former soldier Joseph McCabe, 35, from Glasgow, realised his dream to become a fashion designer after his friend lost a battle with depression.

He has dedicated B-Heard clothing to the memory of tragic Liam Gildea, 29, who took his own life during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Joseph, a private in the Royal Logistic Corps for five years, said: “Losing Liam gave me the final push to do it. He would be so proud.

“Liam was a good-looking guy, a great laugh and very outgoing so he’d probably want to be one of the models. He’s a great loss to everyone who knew him.

“I wanted to get the message that people had to speak out and discuss these issues, hence the name B-Heard.

“It’s been a sad, difficult time but I wanted something positive to come from all of this.

“He passed away in the middle of lockdown so it was a very tough time.”

Sheree added: “It’s a fantastic thing that Joseph is doing and we are delighted that Stone is able to play his part by modelling the clothes.”

And as if his new-found modelling fame wasn’t keeping Stone busy enough, the former Langloan Nursery youngster is set to start school for the first time this week.

Sheree said: “He is going to Langloan Primary and is looking forward to it.

“It will be strange for us to go from having him in the house for 22 weeks to him being away at school for hours a day. It’s a big step for him but we’re confident he will do himself, and us, proud.”

B- Heard clothing will donate 10 per cent of each sale to Glasgow Association for Mental Health (GAMH), which provides more than 2000 hours of support to people every week.

The clothing range features brightly coloured T- shirts, hoodies and accessories. Prices start from £25 for a cap to £45 for a hoodie.

The clothes are handmade in the UK from material which is also sourced in this country.
