The Land Lies Still: by Sandra H Brown, Coatbridge
Sandra writes:“I recently wrote this poem, called The Land Lies Still.
“It explains how Covid-19 has impacted on our lives, not just in Scotland, but many communities around the world.”
Empty streets fill our world of something so profound, Darkness washes o’er us,‘tis not film-set prophecy
Reality shakes us to the core, close our doors to outside,
World o’er every sea far and wide, abide to every rule
We plead and safeguard those in need, brings out good
Deeds in us all, the land lies still here and now for only
Nature is awakened when birdsong embraces life Serenading us to fill the void when the land lies still.
