Library reopens

Airdrie library reopened on Monday.

The library on Wellwynd became North Lanarkshir­e’s third to welcome back readers, following nearby Coatbridge and Cumbernaul­d.

It is open from 10am to 4pm on weekdays and readers will see changes such as limited numbers of visitors, social distancing, hand sanitising and the mandatory wearing of face coverings.

Returned items will be quarantine­d for three days and customers are asked to “browse with your eyes and not your hands”.

Community activities such as children’s book sessions at Airdrie library are suspended.

The library’s toilets are also closed, while computer sessions are limited to 30 minutes’duration, and tables and chairs have been removed to create additional space being as they choose books.

Culture NL’s other 16 libraries including Chapelhall, Chryston and Moodiesbur­n will reopen in“due course”.
