Racing sim just can’t reach top speed

-

Racing games are ten a penny. I love every one in their own way but to be given the choice to race around the Isle of Man course on a superbike? I was sold.

TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 2 pits you against other superbikes on a variety of courses if you so desire but when you have the option to scream down the famous Snaefell TT route, why would you go anywhere else?

TT2 has 17 additional tracks, 18 different motorbikes, including classic models, and the official riders.

And it’s more realistic than ever, thanks to entirely revamped physics and faithfully reproduced rider movements.

The port to the Nintendo Switch is not without its problems, however, with frame-rate dropping rapidly and graphic detail set to minimum which makes it nearly impossible to see ahead on the track, something I would have thought would be integral going at 150mph.

Gameplay is testing to say the least, and handling on the standard Switch controllers in handheld mode is an uphill struggle at every turn, really testing the patience of gamers.

Career mode is huge, allowing you to reach the top of the superbike ranking system, while customisation of your bike is as fun as any“car racer”and being able to jump straight in for a ride around the course of your choice is a bonus.

However, the tricky controls stop Ride on the Edge 2 from really hitting full throttle.
