Boy, 15, accused of Alesha taunts

A 15-year-old boy has been referred to the Children’s Reporter after a sick Instagram page was set up in the name of Alesha MacPhail’s killer.

The page using the name of Aaron Campbell taunted Georgina Lochrane (below), the mother of tragic Airdrie schoolgirl Alesha, by attempting to follow her on social media.

Georgina was distressed by messages posted on the page.

Campbell was 16 when he murdered six-year-old Alesha while she was visiting family on the Isle of Bute in July 2018.

Police confirmed a boy of 15 had been identified in connection with an “online communication offence”.

An arrest has not been made but the Children’s Reporter will decide on how to proceed.
