Opening doors virtually

This year’s Doors Open Days has gone virtual as the community event deals with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Videos from participating venues in North Lanarkshire are now available to view online at www. doorsopendays.org.uk.

These include a behindthe-scenes tour and crew demonstration at Coatbridge Community Fire Station and the Lanarkshire Family History Society’s run through of resources to help people research their family trees.

Event co-ordinator Adam Smith said: “Unfortunately, the impact of Covid- 19 means we’re unable to offer our usual North Lanarkshire Doors Open Days programme.

“However, we’ve been lucky to have the continued support of venues which would normally open their doors and have put together virtual resources .

“The videos are live on Youtube, accessed through the Doors Open Days website or the North Lanarkshire Doors Open Day’s Facebook page.”
