Lottery funding boost for Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire group
Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire (VANL) has received a lottery boost of £87,500 to help with its work with vulnerable and isolated people.
The local organisation will use its grant from the National Lottery community fund to provide food parcels to support low-income families, and “aim to better connect food distribution with welfare advice to reduce the need for food parcels”.
VANL is also launching a new project to pilot remote befriending and digital inclusion support for 120 shielded and frail older people.
It was among six groups in North Lanarkshire and more than 250 across the country who shared in funding of more than £5.5 million in the latest round of grants.
National Lottery community fund Scotland chair Kate Still, said:“these awards, made possible by National Lottery players, are making an amazing contribution to the nationwide response to combat the impact of Covid-19 on local communities across Scotland.”
