Coaching “privilege” for Crighton

Airdrieoni­ans captain Sean Crighton has joined Ian Murray’s backroom team for next season and says it is a privilege to be involved in a coaching capacity.

The 30-year-old will assist Murray on and off the pitch during the League One campaign, which kicks-off on October 17, and he’s thrilled to be on board.

Crighton said: “it’s a great privilege for me to take up this role. I’d been helping out in an unofficial capacity before, so now that it’s official it’s great for me to be working more closely with the manager and stuart.

“I’ve said before that I’m very happy at this club, and if there’s any way that I can help to better us and to get us to where we should be, I’m certainly up for it.”

The defender, who already has some coaching experience from his days at Hamilton and Morton, has made 118 appearance­s over two spells at the Diamonds.

And manager Ian Murray said: “sean is a great person to have around the club, and and his his determinat­ion determinat­ion to to succeed succeed can can be be seen in his performanc­es. On top of that he’s honest and hard-working, and he’s already a talented coach - so I think it’s a very good appointmen­t for all involved and we’re all looking forward to working together.”

Director of Football Stuart Millar added: “after consulting with the manager, I offered Sean the role and we’re thrilled that he has accepted.

“His leadership qualities are there for all to see, and he’s been a great asset to the club in more ways than one. “It’s “It’s an an appointmen­t appointmen­t the the playing playing staff staff are delighted with, and the board and coaches can only echo that sentiments."
