Road closed for sewer work

-

A sewer upgrading project is taking place in Coatbridge to tackle flooding in the area.

Scottish Water are carrying out four weeks of work at Waverley

Street in the town to install manholes, improving infrastructure to address flooding around Burnbank Street.

The project means Waverley Street is shut between Cromlet Drive and Northburn Road; the project began last week and will run until next Friday (October 9).

A Scottish Water spokesperson said:“as part of the ongoing commitment to improve our services to customers, we are carrying out essential sewer network upgrades to help tackle flooding in Burnbank Street.

“We require to close off a section of road on Burnbank Street/ Waverley Street between Cromlet Drive and Northburn Road for four weeks to install manholes in the centre of the road.”

The official diversion route takes Monklands drivers via Dunbeth Road, Aitchison Street, Glenmavis Road and Coatbridge Road.

The Scottish Water spokesperson added: “We would like to thank local residents and road users for their patience and understanding whilst we complete this essential work, which will reduce the flood risk to our customers.”
