Festive lunch cancelled

The annual community Christmas lunch organised by Coatbridge, Airdrie and Monklands Rotary Club is not taking place this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Its organisers, Janette Horn and Bill Craig, say that they are“heartfelt sorry” about postponing the festive event, which usually attracts more than 150 guests each year.

They are instead hoping that it will be possible to host a similar event next spring.

Gutted Janette told the Advertiser:“we’re sorry that this decision has had to be made, and hope that everyone will understand why.

“We would like to tell everyone that we will be missing their company this Christmas – and, all going well, we will meet up next spring.”

The annual festive lunch usually takes place in the Tudor Hotel, and is open to a large numbers of guests, many of whom are older and live in local care homes and sheltered housing complexes.
