£5k prize seals dream holiday

-

A Moodiesburn man is planning an extra-special birthday celebration after he and his wife were crowned winners of a radio station’s jackpot prize.

Robert and Colleen Rae worked together and successfully answered all 10 questions on Clyde 1’s £5k minute – and are now looking forward to saying “viva Las Vegas”next year with their winnings.

They collected the top prize after Colleen’s quick Googling to find that the Queen was aged 27 on the day of her coronation, helping set up their trip of a lifetime to celebrate Robert’s 50th birthday.

He said:“we already had the trip planned with my sister Karen and her husband Clark, as it’s also his 50th next year, but this has just made the holiday even better.

“I listen every day but it was the first time I had made it on air – I was lucky that I knew a lot of the answers and Colleen quickly helped with those I struggled with, and I can’t believe I have won the £5k!”

The competition on Clyde 1’s breakfast show is sponsored by Wholesale Domestic Bathrooms in Hillington and show host George Bowie was delighted for Robert and Colleen on their win.

He said:“it was a real team effort from Robert and Colleen this morning and everyone at Clyde 1 was thrilled that they managed to answer all 10 questions correctly.

“This has been a challenging year for everyone. I’m delighted that we can help to make Robert’s birthday and trip to Vegas next year extra-special, and hope they have a brilliant time.”
