Police appeal for information after Range Rover torched
A hooded man was seen fleeing the scene after a car was “deliberately” set on fire in Chapelhall.
The silver Land Rover Range Rover was torched at around 1.20am on Friday while parked on the village’s Lammermuir Way.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended and safely extinguished the blaze.
This destructive act comes hot on the heels of three vehicles being deliberately torched in Monklands over five days late last month.
Police are treating the latest incident as “wilful fire raising”– and a man wearing dark clothing with a hood up was seen running away from the scene in the direction of Lancaster Avenue.
Detective Constable Craig Mclean, of Lanarkshire CID, said: “thankfully there have been no injuries as a result of this reckless act.
“Although this incident took place in the early hours of the morning, I would ask that if anyone has any information that they get in touch with officers.
“I would also appeal to those who have possible dash-cam footage or were driving in the area at the time to contact police.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 0214 of Friday, October 2, or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
