Part of M8 to close overnight for works

Par t of the M8 near Chapelhall will be closed for four nights later this month for resurfacing work.

The eastbound motorway between junction 6A and junction five for Shotts, plus the on-slip at junction 6 for Newhouse, will shut from 8.30pm until 6am the following day on each of the dates.

Work will take place from the evenings of next Thursday and Friday, October 15 and 16, and again the following Monday and Tuesday, October 19 and 20.

Dri v e r s u s i n g the motorway route during the night-time closures will be diverted via the A8, A73 and B7066.

The £240,000 project will improve the road surface, “creating smoother and safer journeys for motorists”.

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled and “strict physical distancing protocols” and coronavirus safety measures will be put in place.
