Kind Rotarians donate toiletries to foodbanks

Magnificent Monklands Rotarians dug deep to do their bit for Lanarkshire residents in need.

The organisation spent all of last month collecting toiletries to deliver to foodbanks in Airdrie, Coatbridge and Motherwell.

The mu c h - n e e d e d stock included toilet rolls, deodorant, shower gel and toothpaste.

Volunteers with the Coatbridge, Airdrie and Monklands Rotary Club then travelled to the foodbanks to hand over the hundreds of items.

A spokesperson for the club said: “We donated 960 toilet rolls to Basics Foodbank ( Trussell Trust) for distribution to their three foodbanks in Airdrie, Wishaw and Motherwell.

“The club also purchased toiletries for the People’s Pant r y Foodbank on Coatbridge’s Bank Street and Coatbridge community foodbank from Home Bargains.

“We would like to thank Tony Mcdouga l l f rom Home Bargains for his kind generosity in adding extra toiletries to our consignment.

“A delivery was also made to Airdrie foodbank, which we bought from the town’s B&M Bargains and our appreciation goes to the store’s manager Margaret for the discounts that allowed us to get more items.

“Our thanks go to everyone who donated any items and helped to deliver them to the foodbanks.”

The club now hosts its weekly meeting, which are held every Monday at 6.30pm, via Zoom conferencing due to the coronavirus pandemic and new members are invited to join in with the organisation’s activities.
