MARK TAKES IT ON NOSE

Comic book star ends up in A&E

- IAN BUNTING

Coatbridge comic- book tycoon Mark Millar ended up in an accident and emergency ward at the weekend – after tripping on a rolled up carpet and smashing his nose.

The prolific writer, 50, was reading an article on his wife Lucy’s laptop while walking around his Glasgow home when he fell over.

Millar, who sold his comic- book empire to Netflix for almost £25 million, was left with blood pouring out of his nose and dashed to hospital for treatment on Saturday night.

He had to have butterfly stitches following the accident and later posted a photo oon his Twitter page.

He was reading Tory- leaning magazine The Spectator at the time of the mishap and joked that, as a Labour supporter, he might have got what he deserved.

He said: “Walking around reading an article by Matt Ridley on my wife’s laptop, tripped on a rolled up carpet, smashed my nose and ended up in A&E an hour ago.

“Is this what happens when a Labour Party member reads @spectator online?

“It’s fine but there was a surprising amount of blood across keys and a small wedge of flesh on the edge of the screen.

“Damn you @mattwridley and your hypnotic prose.”

Millar’s superhero comics Kick-ass, Wanted and Kingsman have all been turned in Hollywood movies.

After the Netflix deal was signed in 2017, he and Lucy set up a charitable foundation to use his fortune to redevelop Townhead, where he grew up, and he has announced plans to build new homes there.

The profits from the venture will be put back into community facilities.
