Monklands road closures

A series of Monklands roads will be closed to motorists over the next few weeks.

Airdrie’s Quarry Road is shut until next Wednesday, February 3, to 360m with its terminatio­n with the B802 Commonside Street.

Scottish Water is completing emergency works and there are no diverted routes in place for drivers.

Further emergency works by Scottish Water mean Lewis Place in Airdrie is shut, to 120m with its terminatio­n with Varnsdorf Way, until next Thursday, February 4.

Again, motorists are warned that no alternativ­e roads are available to use during the closure.

Etive Road in Airdrie will be closed between 6am and 6pm on Tuesday to allow for the completion of iron work repairs.

Brownsburn Road to Spey Court and though pedestrian­s will still be able to access the road“where practical”, there will be no diversions in place for motorists.

Meanwhile, two Coatbridge roads will see restrictio­ns for 11 days next month for the“re-building”of manholes.

The A89 Bank Street (eastbound traffic only) will shut, between the B753 Dundyvan Road and the A89 South Circular Road (at the Fountain roundabout), and there will be no right turn allowed at the town’s Ross Street, to the A89 Bank Street, from February 15-26.

The manhole work is being carried out by BT and alternativ­e routes for drivers for the A89 Bank Street closure will be the B753 Dundyvan Road, the A725 Coatbank Street and the A89 South Circular Road.
