Documentary charts musician’s weight loss
A Monklands musician who filmed a documentary during lockdown featuring his weight loss and efforts to cope with the impact of the pandemic has shed five-stones.
Colin Scougall, a musical performer for a staggering 37 years, decided to chronicle his attempts to achieve the “diet of his life” – and the successful journey is now available to view free online.
Filming of From Pandemic To Performance, which ran from June last year to March, took place in Colin’s home and at various locations across Coatbridge.
Singer Colin told the Advertiser: “The idea behind the documentary was to monitor my weight loss as I attempted the diet of my life – and to document how the pandemic and lockdown impacted on me both professionally and personally.
“It’s the most personal thing I’ve ever done. I just sat in front of the camera and spoke the truth about how I was feeling on that particular day.
“My record company, Cody Records, supported the filming and gave me free rein to create whatever
I wanted.
“Live footage of my gigs during the years before Covid, which were filmed by my own photographer, El Anethyst, are spliced throughout the documentary too.
“I’m delighted with how it has turned out and the feedback so far has been very positive.”
Running for 87 minutes, From Pandemic To Performance also features previously unseen footage from Colin’s past gigs.
Stage star Colin now plans to release the documentary on DVD during the festive season.
He said: “The DVD will be available at Christmas with an accompanying CD featuring some of the music in the documentary, and several unseen DVD extras.
“This is an intimate story and really captures how the pandemic has impacted on stage performers, along with the effort that goes in to losing weight.
“Hopefully as many people as possible give it a watch as I’m sure they will be entertained.”
