Man attacked by gang in his flat

-

A man suffered serious injuries after four thugs armed with weapons forced their way into his Airdrie flat and assaulted him in broad daylight in what police are treating as a “targeted” attack.

The terrifying incident took place at around 4.15pm on July 9 at the Bruce Court property.

The 28-year-old victim was assaulted by the four men with weapons and sustained serious head and leg injuries.

He was taken by ambulance to Wishaw General Hospital, where he was treated, and has since been released.

The suspects, all white and in their 20s, made off in a dark Volkswagen Golf and drove off on to nearby Forrest Street.

Further descriptions of the men say one had dark hair, a medium build and was wearing a grey t-shirt and black trousers; one was of medium build, wearing a black tracksuit with the hood up; another had short light brown hair, glasses, a sleeve tattoo on his right arm and was wearing a black t-shirt and trousers; and the final man had short light brown hair, a heavy build and was wearing a grey hooded Puma jumper, blue shorts and white trainers.

Detective Constable Emma Macfarlane, of Coatbridge CID, said: “Although the motive for this attack has still to be confirmed, we believe at this time that it was targeted.

“We are aware, from CCTV, that there were a good number of people around at the time and would appeal to them, or indeed anyone who saw the car speed off in to Forrest Street, to come forward. It would also be helpful if anyone has dash-cam footage from the street between 4pm and 4.20pm.”
