Drumps set up top-table clash
Drumpellier moved back up to second in the Western District Cricket Union First Division with a two-wicket win over Calero Kelburne on Saturday.
That sets up a top-of-the-table clash with Ayr on Saturday.
Kelburne won the toss and chose to bat on a very dry pitch at Langloan, which looked good for a high score.
Matthew Mcmillan did most of the early scoring, and with Ryan Morrow backing him up they reached 50 in the 12th over, before Drumpellier changed their attack and William Leslie promptly removed Morrow for 12, with Mcmillan eventually following for 59.
With the score at 81-2, that seemed to stop Kelburne’s momentum and it was soon 108-3 in the 30th over, when David Graham went for 5 off the bowling of Josh Allison.
Jake Connel was caught by Leslie off the bowling of Darren Pryde, and Mohan Khan had James Cook LBW, before they were all out at 202 for 8 in 50 overs.
Drumpellier had a target of 203 to win but didn’t start well as Nick Pyne was caught behind by David Graham off the bowling of Morrow on the very first ball.
In the next over Fraser Hamilton hammered a full toss to Jake O’connell off the bowling of Ryan Wylie, leaving Drumpellier at 2-2.
Jordan Pryde and Nathan Allison steadied the ship before the former was out for 16 with Drumpellier at 24-3.
Ross Heginbottom and Allison added 50, with Craig Mcdonald and Josh Allison adding 58.
Drumpellier set about their task and achieved 206 for 8 in 47.1 overs when Khan smashed a four to the pavilion.
